Who are we?

We are a club serving the South of Bristol and North Somerset. Founded on 11th October 1987 (at an inaugural meeting of 27 people at the Coach House pub in Locking), we now have over 160 members and enjoy general recreational paddling on placid water, white water and the sea.

Whoever you are you will enjoy paddling with us, making new friends on or off the water, come sun, wind, rain or snow!!!

We welcome anyone and everyone including individuals, families and accompanied children. SACC is a club for people looking to paddle with friends old and new, whether you are a beginner starting out and wanting to develop your skills or an experienced paddler looking to have fun and make new friends.

Want to have a go?

During the summer season we meet every Tuesday night at various locations in North Somerset, our club trailer comes along to all theses sessions so all the kit you need can be hired for a small fee. All you need to bring is a set of clothes (inc shoes) that you don't mind getting wet. There's no need to book and there will be coaches on hand to help you.

During the winter season we meet every Thursday night at Churchill swimming pool, where we offer coached 30 minute sessions. Like the Tuesday sessions all the neccessary kit is provided, you just need to bring a swim suit and rash vest. Again no need to book!

So have a look at our programme to see when and where we are next meeting up for a paddle and come give kayaking a try!

Your first 4 sessions are considered to be taster sessions so you don't need to get club membership, after your 4th session if you like what we have to offer you can become a full member. Full members get reduced pool rates, and are able to come on our club weekend trips!

New To Kayaking?

If you are new to the sport and not sure what you should be focusing on or where you should be aiming then you should have a read of the Course Structure page. This gives a brief breakdown of the courses available and what they involve.

Of course if you want more information please feel free to chat to any of our coaches or committee members.

During the year we run several coached sessions aimed at teaching and assessing club members in the star syllabus'. These include two training camp weekends held at Biblins youth campsite during June and September. You can also request to be taught and assesed during the Tuesday night sessions!
